Individual Therapy
People often seek individual therapy to process major life events, relationship or career-related stress, and various life transitions. People experience many transitions throughout their lives. While some of these transitions may be expected and filled with excitement and anticipation, others may be unexpected and met with feelings of loss, stress and uncertainty. I have worked with clients navigating young adulthood, career changes, marriage, parenthood, separation and divorce, and the death of a loved one. Life transitions are met with navigating new roles, responsibilities, and conflicting or emerging identities. Individuals may also seek individual therapy to process previous trauma and family-of-origin issues. Whether the stressor is related to the past, present, or future, clients may also experience anxiety, depression, isolation, trouble focusing, and low motivation, self-esteem and confidence, among other symptoms. Often times, clients are experiencing an intersection of numerous stressors. I work collaboratively and systemically with clients to create goals, process experiences, and develop skills needed for self-growth and relationship enhancement.
what to expect
Starting therapy can be a challenging first step, but you will be guided through every step of the process. First, a complimentary 15-minute phone call is set up to discuss your interest in therapy and to answer any questions you might have. If we both agree to move forward, then a client portal is created and paperwork is completed online. Clients can meet in-person, online, or a hybrid of the two. The first session is a bit busier as important background information is gathered and goals are established. This helps build the foundation for our future sessions.
my approach
I provide my clients with a comfortable space to process and reflect on many life challenges and transitions. I offer a warm and welcoming space where clients can feel heard and validated and express their concerns freely. In my work with individuals, I integrate techniques from narrative therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness therapy modalities. I work from a strengths-based approach, which assists clients in feeling empowered and prepared to navigate future challenges.
